David Schwartz - '99

Co-Founder and Principal - Slate Property Group

David Schwartz serves as Principal at Slate Property Group. In this role, David manages the development and construction of projects and shares responsibility for all acquisitions as well as investment decisions. David leads ground-up development projects with an emphasis on multifamily and mixed-use properties in Brooklyn’s emerging neighborhoods. He oversees all aspects of the development process, from the acquisition, design and construction to the marketing and sale of a property. Prior to co-founding Slate Property Group, David co-founded two development firms that focused on residential and mixed-use development in New York City with a strong focus on Brooklyn. Collectively his development projects are valued at approximately $1 billion representing over 900 residential units. Earlier in his career, David worked at Crescent Heights where he was involved in the development of over 3,000 apartment and hotel units throughout the United States.


David earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Syracuse University.


Bradley A. Settleman - '85

Partner - Tall Pines Capital

Mr. Settleman has been a principal investor in real estate for the past 25 years with broad experience in acquisition and development as well as structured debt investments. Mr. Settleman has invested throughout the capital structure in ground up development, asset repositioning, recapitalization and partnership buyouts. Prior to forming Tall Pines with Emanuel Stern, Mr. Settleman was President of 40 North Properties and is also the Founder and Managing Principal of Latus Partners, both opportunistic real estate investment platforms in New York City. Previously, Mr. Settleman spent more than eight years at Credit Suisse in the real estate and commercial mortgage area where he was a founding member of the principal investment group, which invested and managed more than $3 billion of the firm’s proprietary capital in commercial mortgage debt and real estate equity transactions.


Mr. Settleman is a graduate of Syracuse University and earned his MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University.



Chris LaBianca - '92

MD and Head of Origination, Real Estate Finance - UBS 

Chris LaBianca is a Managing Director and Head of Origination within the Real Estate Finance Group at UBS. In this role, Mr. LaBianca is responsible for leading a national production team which provides commercial real estate debt for execution through the CMBS market as well as traditional balance sheet lending. Mr. LaBianca has spent over 20 years in the real estate debt markets with firms in the commercial banking, investment banking and private equity space.  


Prior to joining UBS, Mr. LaBianca spent five years at RCG Longview, a real estate fund platform sponsored by investment manager Ramius Capital Group and The Feil Organization, that has made more than 500 investments secured by over $15 billion of real estate since its inception in 1999. He served as President of RCG Longview Debt Fund IV, L.P., and was responsible for origination, underwriting, asset management and servicing of all fund investments. Prior to joining RCG, Mr. LaBianca spent nearly eight years at Bank of America, most recently serving as a Managing Director and Co-Head of National Originations in the firm's Real Estate Capital Markets group. During his tenure there, the firm consistently ranked among the top three most active contributors to CMBS issues, with total volume in the last four years exceeding $53 billion. Mr. LaBianca was responsible for developing and managing a nationwide network of fully staffed origination offices, and personally originated over $8 billion of loans for securitization while at the firm. Prior to Bank of America, Mr. LaBianca spent eight years at Chemical and Chase Manhattan Bank, predecessors to JPMorgan Chase, holding senior management positions in the Real Estate Finance and US Securities divisions. He began his career as an Analyst with Prudential.  


Mr. LaBianca received his BS from Rider College and his MBA from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. Mr. LaBianca is a past Chairman of the Real Estate Board of NY’s Finance Committee, currently serves on the Commercial Mortgage Board of Governors for the Mortgage Bankers Association and is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
