"Media Engagement Secrets Revealed… From the Proven World of Radio"

An evening with Walter Sabo '74

- Chairman of Sabo Media

Walter Sabo, founder of Sabo Media, addressed WhitmanNYC members off all backgrounds - in/out of media, young and old.  Mr. Sabo was a compendium of radio history. While some think radio is a dying medium, Walter reminded us of how ubiquitous it is and how we listen while not consciously knowing it. At the same time he shared how the future of radio will be radically different. Intertwined with his analysis were personal anecdotes about discovering Dr. Ruth, introducing Howard Stern to Sirius/XM, and how Taylor Swift could be the key to country radio.  Walter also reviewed why some radio stations are more profitable than others.

Biography:

Walter Sabo's content innovations have led over 100,000,000 million Americans to new entertainment platforms.  First, audiences migrated from AM to FM with Sabo’s co-creation of the adult contemporary format at NBC and RKO radio.  Next, Walter Sabo built the first 24 hour FM talk format aimed for young listeners bringing Talk Radio fans to the FM Band.  On-site, at Sirius Satellite radio he conceived and produced thousands of hours of programming that inspired 20,000,000 customers to tear up their dashboards, install a new antennae and pay a monthly fee....for great radio.  Through his company Hitviews, he prompted digital advertisers such as Pepsi and Fox Television to place their products inside web star videos that reach tens of millions of viewers every day. Walter Sabo knows how to get the audience to show up and engage.
