Panelist Bios

Karen Alberg Grossman '71
Karen is editor in chief of MR Magazine, a Business Journals publication that she launched in 1990. She is also editor in chief of Forum magazine and Accent magazine, both luxury lifestyle publications custom-designed for upscale independent stores. Prior to this, Karen was senior editor of Accessories magazine and women's apparel editor for Retail Week magazine. She started her career as an executive trainee for Bloomingdale's and then as a market rep for May Merchandising. Karen graduated from Syracuse University with a dual degree in French education and philosophy. 

A frequent moderator of industry panels and seminars and guest lecturer at fashion schools, she is known for her insightful editorials, personality-revealing profiles and provocative industry roundtables. She also admits to spending hours studying men under the guise of “market research.”  

Meg Newhouse 
Meg is SVP GMM of Kids (Boys and Girls) at Ross Stores. She has worked at Ross for the past 19 years.  Prior to this, Meg was had a wide variety roles at Ross in both children’s and intimate apparel. Meg graduated Ohio University with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and a minor in Journalism. She started her career as an executive trainee at Lord and Taylor. She worked there for 12 and half years in a wide variety of roles in the areas of juniors and fashion accessories. She became the VP of Handbags. After Lord and Taylor, she ran Anne Klein Handbags and then became a consultant for Burlington Coat Factory. At Burlington, she started their handbag and jewelry business.  In January it will be her 19th year at Ross stores. 


Jonathan Greller '92   
Jonathan is Group SVP, Private Brands , Global Sourcing, TopShop/TopMan, Bridal and Licensed for Hudson Bay Company & Lord & Taylor department stores.  In addition to this responsibility he oversees the design of Black Brown 1826 with world class designer Joseph Abboud. Mr. Greller served as SVP of Private Brands for Hudson Bay Company and Lord & Taylor from November 2012 to November 2013. He served as the SVP General Merchandise Manager of Ladies Sportswear in early 2012 and prior to that SVP General Merchandise Manager for Men's, Intimate Apparel, Sleepwear, Activewear and Children's at Lord & Taylor from 2009 to 2012. He began his career with Lord & Taylor and worked in many executive merchandising roles rising through the ranks to his current position today . Jonathan Greller is based out of Lord & Taylor’s New York headquarters.
Jonathan currently serves on Syracuse University retail advisory board  and in addition received his Bachelor of Science degree in retailing from Syracuse University.


Maureen Baltazar '89
Maureen is Senior VP Retail and Merchandising and has been with Hermes for 14 years. She directly oversees 27 boutiques, Hermes’ corporate Merchandising team, Wholesale and Internet businesses. She has direct responsibility to interface with Special Events, PR, Visual Merchandising, and Finance as associated to Marketing objectives and strategic planning. Before joining Hermes, Baltazar was Assistant General Manager at Saks Fifth Avenue. Prior to Saks, Baltazar had buying responsibilities in Designer Sportswear, Bridge Sportswear, Intimate Apparel and Moderate Sportswear at Lord and Taylor and Bloomingdales where she began her career in the Buying Program.

Baltazar received an AAS degree in Buying and Merchandising from FIT and a BS in Retail from Syracuse University. 

Danny Lieberman '85
Danny serves as VP Global Apparel & Accessories at Fila.  In this role he is responsible for all apparel-related functions and is based in New York. Before elevation to this position Danny held various positions at Fila in product development, sourcing, product management, merchandising and production. Lieberman also worked at London Fog specializing in sales and sourcing functions. Lieberman is a 1985 Syracuse University graduate and got his start on the retail side of the fashion industry landing a position in Macy's legendary buying training program.

Reena Amin '02
Reena is Sr. Planning Manager for North America stores at Coach. She graduated from Syracuse University with an Arts degree, where she also taught in the Department of Retail Management & Consumer Studies. She has spent 10 years in various planning and buying roles for Crate&Barrel, Paper Source & Coach. She currently lives in New York City and considers herself a New Yorker despite growing up in Mumbai.
